Note from webmiss: This article was originally posted in March earlier this year, but unfortunately we must have missed it. It is such an important cause, and I think it’s really great how Tessa is using here fame to promote it! Therefore, I’ll post it to you now, 8 months too late hehe.

IT was a tragedy in her family decades before her birth but Tessa James is still left with the message it brought – drink driving kills.  “My grandpa’s brother was killed in a car accident when he was 21,” the Home And Away star said yesterday. “Two people were drunk in a stolen car and they hit his motorbike when they went through a red light.”

The 18-year-old actress has had her P-plates since moving to Sydney from her native Melbourne two years ago. P-plate drivers must have a blood-alcohol content of zero and James has become an I Promise ambassador to remind other young drivers of their responsibility. “Being a P-plater you can’t have any alcohol in your system at all and I think that’s really good because then I’m not even tempted at all to drink,” she said.

“When I go out I take cabs or if I don’t want to drink I offer to drive . . . it’s not that hard. If someone is the designated driver that’s their responsibility for the night. “It makes such a difference.”

Hello darlings! As posted below, Tessa attented AAMI Victoria Derby Day yesterday. She looked absolutely stunning in a gorgeous black dress. She posed alongside fellow Home and away actress Samara Weaving. - AAMI Victoria Derby Day – October 30 x 8

NO MATTER the downpours, the stars still made it trackside to Victoria Derby Day at Melbourne’s Flemington racecourse yesterday.  Leading the pack were TV sweethearts Jessica Marais and James Stewart, left, who made their first official public appearance as an engaged couple.  Other celebrities included Erica Packer, Kerri-Anne and John Kennerley, Megan Gale, and Katherine Jenkins.

Marais and Stewart were ecstatic and showing their love for each other as they enjoyed the Spanish-themed Emirates marquee.

“I’m very happy; beside myself,” Marais said. Stewart and Marais became engaged earlier this month while on holiday from the hugely popular Seven TV drama, Packed to the Rafters.

Marais’ diamond engagement ring was covered by black leather gloves, which she took off to show friends through the day. “It’s an equestrian look,” she said, in a Willow outfit and Richard Nylon hat. Anne and John Kennerley, Megan Gale, and Katherine Jenkins.

Home and Away-ers Esther Anderson and Samara Weaving, Tessa James and Rebecca Breeds.

“I’m going to put on as many bets as I can so I’ll have at least one chance of winning something,” said Anderson in a white Collette Dinnigan dress. Weaving was also enjoying her first Derby Day, “My tip is to pick the coolest sounding horse and put money on it,” she said.

Kelly Osbourne was mobbed by photographers, as was Mel B. Dame Edna Everage and Jennifer Hawkins posed for photographers while Kris Smith flew solo, with Dannii Minogue in the UK. Kerri-Anne Kennerley said she was celebrating her 27th year in The Birdcage.

“It’s all about The Birdcage,” she said, wearing Alex Perry. “Everybody puts in such an effort; it’s exquisite.”

Episode 5178: While they’re at the beach, Romeo tell Nicole he is worried bout huis ship with Indi. He accepts when she offer to talk to Indi. Later on, Romeo tells Nic he can’t understand how he did everything right – but Indi still dumped him. Nicole eventually goes to see Indi, and suggests that she should try to tell Romeo what’s going on.

Episode 5180:  It’s time for  Mitzy’s funeral. Nicole, Miles, Maz, Alf, Sid & Dex all attend. Later on, Nicole suggest that Charlie shouldn’t take her gun if she teaches Ruby how to dive due to all the tension between them.

The Halloween Party
Melody tells Ruby she’s going to get Geoff to be hers by the end of the night.

When Melody overhears that Nicole is going to the Halloween party in a devil’s costume, she gets an idea…she will wear the same outfit as Nicole! Nicole is in a pretty good mood, as things have been going well with her mum and with Geoff – even though she lost the school captaincy position. 

Everyone dresses up for the big night in costumes – and Nicole isn’t impressed to see Melody in the same costume When the lights go down, Melody kisses Geoff! Nicole is furious! The two girls argue over Geoff and Geoff asks Melody to stop. Melody mentions telling Bartlett about Nicole getting in trouble with the law so Nicole says they’ve slept together. Geoff is shocked – and so is everyone else, especially Annie. Melody says Nicole has ruined Geoff. Nicole apologises for telling her in such a way and says that she loves Geoff. Geoff tells Melody he loves Nicole too.

Who is Tessa James?

Tessa James was born on the 17th of April, 1991 in the town of Melbourne. She was educated at Park Orchards Primary School and then Methodist Ladies College where she left in 2008 to pursue the role of Nicole Franklin on the popular TV soap, Home and Away. Tessa also performed in many productions through school and her acting group. Her cultural arts extends even further as Tess plays the piano and guitar besides acting.
